double densed uncounthest hour of allbleakest age with a bad of wind and a barrel of rain is an in-progress piece for resonators and brass. I’m keeping a composition log here as I work on it.
There are sure to be many detours. Getting it in shape might involve:
- more work on libpippi unit generators & integrating streams into astrid
- testing serial triggers with the solenoid tree & relay system built into the passive mixer
- finishing the passive mixer / relay system and firmware (what to do about the enclosure!?)
- general astrid debugging and quality-of-life improvements…
- composing maybe?

It’s time for me to clean up astrid’s usage of LMDB. I never really understood how database handles and transactions relate in LMDB – they feel completely reversed in some ways.
The documentation says you only need to open a database connection once and can then reuse it for future transactions. However, to complete a transaction you must call either abort, reset/renew, or commit – all of which, according to my reading of the documentation close open database connections…
I’m just reusing the database connection in astrid now, and this seems to work, except for some mysterious intermittent read errors.
I need to take some time now and sort out my LMDB mysteries and issues, I think.
- Am I actually using transactions properly?
- Add a collection of procedures to get and set groups of params within a shared transaction
- What the heck are those read errors? (A local instrument cache might be an OK workaround…)
